TDP to bring out booklet on Centre's injustice to Andhra

Not much business has been carried out since the second leg of the Budget Session of Parliament began on March 5, with the noisy protests stalling proceedings every day, barring for one hour on March 8, when members participated in a discussion to mark the International Women's Day in the Upper House.

Both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were adjourned after uproar over the issue of Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh on Monday.

The bill was introduced in the Lower House by minister of state for finance Shiv Pratap Shukla.

With members continuing their protest, the Chair was forced to adjourn the House till 2pm. With no let up in the protests, she adjourned the House for the day. P J Kurien adjourned the House till tomorrow.

YSR Congress leader Vaivi Subbareddy introduced an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha to discuss the Andhra Pradesh row, and Jan Adhikar Party leader Pappu Yadav introduced the motion in the Lower House to discuss the alleged leak of a question paper for an exam the Staff Selection Commission conducted in February.

However, the resigning union ministers said that the TDP would continue to be part of the BJP-led NDA government but none of its members would hold ministerial positions.

The ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh has finalised its two nominees for the Rajya Sabha election.

Unrelenting members from the TDP stormed the well, carrying placards demanding special status for Andhra Pradesh while the AIADMK demanded the setting up of a Cauvery water management board.

The 50-page booklet touches upon promises made including Polavaram irrigation project, special category status for the state (promised by then Prime Minister in Rajya Sabha), building of world class capital at Amaravati and various other projects.

"As per the decision of our party supremo N Chandrababu Naidu, we are announcing the candidature of C M Ramesh and Ravindra Kumar for the Rajya Sabha election", State TDP president K Kala Venkata Rao said in a release.

Goel was asked to inform Ahluwalia that he can make a statement on Tuesday.

In between, Congress, TMC, Left and others started shouting slogans on Bank Fraud cases.
