Square Enix's Octopath Traveler arriving on July 13 for Nintendo Switch

Octopath Traveller Has A Release Date In July

Square Enix's latest role-playing game, Octopath Traveler (now having dropped the "project" from its name) is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch with its very own release date.

Octopath Traveler hooked us back in September.

For example in the trailer above, Square Enix revealed two characters from the game such as Tressa, a merchant character who can purchase items from all NPCs in the game that other characters wouldn't normally be able to buy from. There will be a standard edition and a special edition. This special edition will be released on the same day as the special edition, and presumably will be available for preorder as well. Tressa is a merchant who has the Purchase ability that allows her to buy items from nearly every NPC in the game. The second character introduced is named Alfyn, who is an apothecary. It also detailed the games job system, which allows players to combine specialties to "enhance strategic options" in combat. It will include a pop-up art book, a nod to the game's unique graphical style, as well as a a map and a "sound selection CD" and a replica coin based on the in-game currency. That demo released past year got me hooked and I've been dying to find out more information about the game. It seems that the developer wants to capitalize on the nostalgic appeal of its previous titles on older consoles.
