After securing a 5-2 aggregate victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last 16 on Tuesday, Real swapped the Parc des Princes for the smallest ground in La Liga, with a capacity of just over 7,000.

Barcelona leads the league by eight points over Atletico Madrid, which hosts Celta Vigo on Sunday.

Eibar created several early chances at the Estadio Municipal de Ipurua but fell behind when Ronaldo latched on to a pass from Luka Modric.

Ronaldo gave Real the lead when he blasted into the net in the 34th minute, but Eibar pegged the champions back when Ivan Ramis headed home from a corner in the 50th minute.

Ronaldo then netted the victor in the 84th minute to keep Real's slim LaLiga title hopes alive. The Spanish capital outfit lies at the third spot in the La Liga table a massive 15 points behind league leaders Barcelona.

Ramos addressed the situation in an Instagram post after the game, accompanying a picture of himself celebrating a goal with Ronaldo alongside the caption: "Nature calls".

Reporters and supporters were very curious about what happened to their captain late on in the game and Zidane didn't mind letting everybody know, in graphic detail, what had gone down.

Zinedine Zidane, along with Real players on the bench are left surprised and confused as they see Ramos leaving. "The statistics speak for themselves".

Eibar appeared to target Madrid's full-backs and their crosses from both flanks continued to trouble, even if they often just missed the intended target.

The Spain global returned to the pitch in the 78th minute, shortly before Cristiano Ronaldo struck the winning goal in a 2-1 win for Zinedine Zidane's side.

Madrid defender Raphael Varane was substituted in the 26th after a blow to the head.

Rodrigo Moreno scored twice to give Valencia an important away victory that opened up an 11-point advantage over fifth-place Sevilla.
