Neymar thinks his move to PSG was a mistake, and Al-Khelaifi wants to take charge of the situation as the star's injury means he may not return to the French capital until after the Federation Internationale de Football Association 2018 World Cup.

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al Khelaifi has been implored to keep a hold of superstar Neymar at all costs by the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani out of personal pride, according to a report.

Neymar has put PSG on red alert after expressing an interest in a world record breaking move to Real Madrid.

Speculation over Neymar's future has ramped up since their exit from the Champions League last week.

Neymar is now back in Brazil where he is recovering from surgery on the fractured metatarsal which forced him to miss PSG's loss to Madrid in the Champions League last Tuesday.

They are keen to see how the player is getting on with his recovery from injury and will also ask if he is keen to see out his PSG contract, which runs until 2022.

"Neymar's not said anything to me, but if it was up to me I would open the door for him to come back right now", Rakitic told reporters after Barca beat Malaga to move 11 points clear at the top of La Liga.

"I won't go back to PSG, [the decision] is irreversible", he's said to his family and friends.

Opting for the surgery on the basis that it would allow him to partake in Brazil's World Cup campaign without hindrance, reports in Spain's Sport are now suggesting that the Brazilian will not play for PSG again.
