LG G7 Release Reportedly Taking Place In May

The LG V30S ThinQ and the LG V30

LG had previously said that the company will be skipping their usual launch cycle and may bring the next device as and when needed. But later reports indicated that the LG G7 launch had been pushed back as the company had chose to redesign it from scratch. Interestingly, a larger variant of the handset is also underway, the LG G7 Plus. By the time future users of the LG G7 upgrade to Android 9, their device will be no less compatible with the latest update. Apparently, an event could unveil the phone as early as late April with sales of the phone starting late in May.

The report doesn't confirm any specific new details, but the rumor mill has pointed to the G7 using a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor under the hood and the handset boasting a pair of 16MP cameras on the back. The report alongside the launch timeline also reveals the expected price and some of the key specifications that the G7 could come with. For one, the dual-lens rear camera setup will have the two 16-megapixel lenses vertically-aligned instead of being positioned beside each other.

No word as yet on the precise release date, but word on the street is that the LG G7 is going to cost slightly more than its predecessor. The upcoming smartphone is expected to be priced around 700 Euros (roughly Rs 56,455), which is nearly 88 Euros (approx Rs 7,000) more than the price of LG G6.

It's also reported that a LG G7 Pro model will be available in select markets, offering bumps in storage and RAM.
