Winter Olympics 2018: French ice dancer suffers wardrobe malfunction

Gabriella Papadakis

A wardrobe malfunction in the ice dance short program Sunday night became a distraction for the skaters and viewers. Unfortunately, Papadakis ended up worrying about her top coming off and exposing her left breast throughout the rest of her dance program.

It happened to the French team of Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron as they danced to songs by Ed Sheeran.

Papadakis had tears streaming down her face as she moved through the media interview zone, leaving her partner Cizeron to take most of the questions for her.

Considered to be one of the favorites to win the gold medal, the duo had to perform as Papadakis had the clasp on the back of her uniform break about 10 seconds into the routine and she struggled to keep her top from falling down.

Compounding her embarrassment, the incident was replayed in slow motion on screens at the arena.

"I told myself, 'I don't have a choice".

French couple Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron lost a few points after battling with a wardrobe malfunciton. "That is not something you get ready for in your mind when you start the program".

Astonishingly, the Olympic debutants scored a hugely impressive 81.93 points - only just behind Canada's Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, who broke the world record with 83.67.

After the performance she revealed that she "felt it right away and prayed".

Focusing on executing her spins with partner Alexander Gamelin, Min had to keep adjusting her red top, winning rich praise from commentators for keeping her cool.

Both incidents still pale compared to Russian skater Ekaterina Rubleva's full-frontal boob flash at the 2009 European championships when her pink dress slipped down nearly to her stomach.
