Wenger explains why Mkhitaryan stays behind after training

Manchester United gaffer Jose Mourinho backs video officiating with adjustments

He pointed to the fact that he has always see Mkhitaryan as an "Arsenal player", because he tried to sign him from Borussia Dortmund in 2016, before he went to Manchester United instead.

Mkhitaryan wanted to make the best decision for his career, and that's what he explained in an interview with ESPN Brasil this week.

Rumours circulated that the 29-year-old was staying behind after Arsenal training to help out in the striker's drills.

"That's why, maybe, it was the best moment, and the best time to change something and to get a new challenge, a new club, and start everything from zero".

"They don't understand and I agree completely with them, they all want to play, that's natural and that's normal".

Mkhitaryan put in a excellent performances on his home debut for the Gunners last weekend, registering three assists in his new club's impressive 5-1 victory over Everton. Mkhitaryan spent a year and a half at Manchester United but found himself out of favour this season amid differences with Mourinho.

Mkhitaryan's 18 months of Premier League experience made him an easier fit into the team but there were more question marks over Aubameyang.

FANS have been tearing into Henrikh Mkhitaryan on Twitter after he appeared to "return to his Manchester United form".

"I loved the way that Arsenal were playing at the time, I loved the way Arsene Wenger was treating his players, I loved the way that everything was happening around the club", continued the Armenian worldwide.

"I don't want to blame anyone".

"Of course, first of all we have to win lots of games". I don't have anything to prove to anyone.

"He called me a few times, he asked, "Will you come or not?' I said, 'First you have to tell me if you sign or not".

But after a goal-studded inauguration at the Emirates, will Mkhitaryan pull the strings against north London rivals Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday?
