Within China, where the New Year is also known as the Spring Festival, a much broader range of celebrations is seen - rituals differ according to area and ethnicity. Delicious dumplings are assembled to look like Chinese silver ingots and represent wealth, while sweet rice balls, which are very popular during the Lantern Festival, represent togetherness.
