Stoke boss Lambert 'devastated' after Brighton draw

Chris Hughton's side have struggled on the road this year

Mathew Ryan was Brighton's hero after a last-minute penalty save at Stoke this afternoon - although he also hailed the defensive efforts of Lewis Dunk and Anthony Knockaert in the 1-1 draw at the bet365 Stadium.

But Brighton resisted a late fightback from the home team to leave Stoke still under the dreaded dotted line.

- The Potters have missed their last three penalties in the Premier League, with each taken by a different player - Charlie Adam, Saido Berahino and Marko Arnautovic.

However, the irate Spaniard was not given the responsibility to take the spot kick, with Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan then diving full length to his right to keep out Adam's well-struck spot kick.

Ryan Shawcross, the captain, had described the visit of Brighton as their biggest game of the season, with Chris Hughton's team without an away win since November. Charlie scored the last one against Coventry and he felt confident he was going to score.

You have to see it to believe.

"I'd be more anxious if everybody shied away from it but they were big enough to go up and hit it".

"Fortunately for us, I got lucky, I went the right way and then I had a couple of guys backing me up".

The Potters had all the work to do in the second half and came out of the blocks more aggressively, however they were unable to put together a chance as Albion's defence held firm in the opening ten minutes.
