Snapchat Redesign Change.org Petition crossed 1million Signatures

It's a major departure from previous Snapchat designs, and was supposed to be easier for users to navigate, however, users are finding it more hard and cluttered.

Snapchat, which is popular with teens and millennials, previously featured content from friends, publishers and celebrities on one page.

The changes were meant to separate interactions with friends from branded content - including that of celebrities and influencers.

"Many "new features" are unworthy or conquer the original functions Snapchat has had for the previous decades", the petition says.

Snapchat founder and chief executive Evan Spiegel said recently that the firm understood the redesign may take time to be accepted.

'This petition aims to help convince Snap Inc to change the app back to the basics, before the new 2018 update'. The company has broadly rolled out a major redesign of its application, and now it is seeing a massive uproar on social media, with users begging for Snap to roll back the update.

Rumsey wrote that the upgrade "has, in actuality, made many features more difficult" to use.

At the heart of the change is separating content from friends and celebrities, users swiping left for the former, right for the latter.

Model Chrissie Teigen tweeted that she didn't like feeling that her followers no longer felt like "friends" as a result.

"Many users have found that it has not made the app easier to use, but has in fact made many features more hard", the petition says.

The most recent user reviews complain the update is a big reason for the lower rating.

Snapchat reiterated its statement that updates "can take a little getting used to". "People want to follow influencers because they really like them, whereas Snapchat just sees them as brands".
