In the process, Kohli and his team made history by winning the ODI series for the first time in South Africa in tours spanning nearly three decades.

With the series already in their bag, Team India led by Virat Kohli would be aiming to end things off on a winning note when they take on hosts South Africa for the final time of the six-match rubber here on Friday.

The two team return to Centurion cricket ground, the venue where the tour began, to play the final game of the ODI series.

With the series won, using only 12 of India's 17-man squad, captain Virat Kohli said: "We want to win 5-1 but there might be a scenario to give a few (other) guys a chance". Amla takes this as a big positive from the not so favored outcome of the series.

"They (South Africa) had the pressure of losing this series and we knew that". "The top three have got the best opportunity because they get to play maximum balls". Jasprit Bumrah too has played 20 ODIs since that Lanka tour, along with eight T20Is and his workload has only increased given that he played through the Test series as well. They punted with a young captain in Aiden Markram with an eye on the future but may have inadvertently contributed to a swift decline in his batting form. "I had said earlier that Ajinkya Rahane would be looked at as a third opener but that situation can change because he has batted at number 4 in World Cup 2015".

Injuries before and during the ODI series against India meant it had to be done through necessity instead of choice, resulting in some harrowing defeats.

"After this series is wrapped up we'll sit down and think about where to improve".

Apart from Indian top order which has been delivering for India on a regular basis, Indian spinners were largely responsible for team's emphatic performances in the ODI series.

"We've had decent starts - the first 10 overs haven't been dramatic", he said. The wrist spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal has been largely effective and the two lead the wicket-taking charts in the series. Before this, we won the CB tri-series in Australia (2007-08). These conditions are such that you get to play fast bowling throughout the innings. But when you lose in this manner, whatever adjustments need to be made, you focus on it more.

The wicket was tough to bat on in the middle.

"I have been very impressed with how he goes about his business on the field because he is composed and he has a good idea of what he likes‚" said Amla in Centurion on Thursday afternoon.
