Pardew hopes Sturridge will only miss a 'couple of weeks'

Antonio Conte reveals when Emerson Palmieri will make Chelsea debut

Chelsea secured a much needed three points when they defeated Premier League basement boys West Brom at Stamford Bridge last night.

Conte's Chelsea future had been placed under the harshest spotlight after successive heavy losses to Bournemouth and Watford - but a victory that took them back up to fourth in the Premier League will ease those concerns for now. It's been maybe two months since I started a game so I felt good.

After making a significant impact at youth level, Hudson-Odoi, who can play as an attacking midfielder, a winger or up front, has broken into the Chelsea first-team this season. "We are Chelsea, we are the champions, we have to give everything".

It still seems unlikely - given the constant grumbles about his limited control of transfer policy - that Conte will be in charge for a third campaign with the west London club.

"We are getting used to the speculation", he told reporters after the match.

"For sure, I'm grateful to the fans for supporting me in this way". It was important for the players to have a couple of days rest and tonight is a good win.

While managers are disposable commodities for Abramovich, retaining a player with the trickery and attacking threat of Hazard is essential. The wing-back was desperate for another goal but this time, West Brom's English stopper was equal to a well-struck drive.

"He was distraught really because his personality and way he has worked at our place has been of the highest order", manager Alan Pardew said of the on-loan Liverpool striker, whose career has been dogged by injuries.

Such is the unease around Chelsea these days that the hosts could only ease up after Moses produced the second in the 63rd minute.

Moses provided the second goal on 63rd minutes when he linked up with Cesc Fabregas.

"He is a great target man", Hazard said later on. Rondon relentlessly chased down Christensen's failure to deal with a long ball and the Venezuelan powered a shot into the side netting, thanks to Courtois' divine intervention, that looked to the West Brom supporters as though it had snuck in. The sterner test will be when Barcelona is here next week in the Champions League last 16.
