Valentine Day is the day of love where couples spend time together.

Honestly, in the end, Valentine's day can really suck if you're single or you're an ancient Roman celebrating Lupercalia. Or, the most alternative route, wait until the day after Valentine's Day and buy the candy for half off. Valentine's Day is supposed to be an occasion to display love, affection and care for our families, friends and romantic partners. Though the festival commemorates the martyrdom of a Christian saint called St. Valentine, the festival as it is celebrated today, has very little religious significance.

Black Day, celebrate on April 14th is the one aimed primarily at single folks. If you know she is more modest it might not be the best idea to gift her with lingerie that she would feel uncomfortable wearing. Hence, there is an entire week for Anti-Valentine's Day. More than 35 million heart-shaped boxes of chocolate is sold on the Valentine Day.

The adage goes, 'Love is one of the most wonderful feelings of lifetime.' This unbelievable feeling of love deserves the most romantic confession as well.

Forgetting about Valentine's Day is a big NO - 47 per cent of people said they'd be disappointed if their partner forgot about Valentine's Day, even if they weren't fussed about celebrating it. In elementary school, many students craft cards and candy to exchange with their classmates and teacher, and it is based on friendship. It is also no surprise that people may have that spring in their step as they head into work, excited just to return home again to their lover to give them a gift, a symbol of their love. I'll sit on the sidelines with discounted chocolate while all of my friends fall in love and wonder about my own relationships.

Being single on Valentine's Day is okay, there are alternative ways you can spend the day without a significant other.

It seems nearly impossible to avoid supporting this holiday with the lure of chocolate at every turn.

Many places hold events that people can participate in on Valentine's Day.

One account suggests that, whilst imprisoned, Valentine fell in love with his jailer's daughter and on the day of his execution (February 14th) he sent her a love letter signed 'from your Valentine'.
