Meet Lucas, first Gerber baby with Down syndrome

A Baby With The Down Syndrome Became The Gerber Baby

He is the first child with down syndrome to take the title in the contest's 91-year history. Gerber announced the newest Gerber Baby spokesbaby, and it's a historical and monumental choice. The 2018 Gerber baby is here!

After all, the opportunity offered to Lucas by the Gerber Company will also have an impact on how people treat baby's with Down Syndrome and, as Lucas's mother hopes, it will educate people to be more supportive and tolerant. Inspired by the adorable baby photos received from proud parents, Gerber launched its first official Photo Search in 2010 and has continued celebrating babies and toddlers every year since, not only through Photo Search but through its real, delicious and nutritious food for babies and expert tools and services for parents. His mom Cortney entered him in the contest on a whim. This year's victor is 1-year-old Lucas Warren from Dalton, Georgia.

Lucas will appear on Gerber's social media channels throughout the year and his family will receive $50,000 (£35,000).

The Gerber Baby contest started in 1927, shortly after the company was founded.

Beating out more than 140,000 other entries in Gerber's 2018 Spokesbaby contest was Lucas Warren, USA Today reported. Congratulations, Lucas! Looking forward to seeing your sweet smiling face all year!

"We're hoping this will impact everyone - that it will shed a little bit of light on the special needs community and help more individuals with special needs be accepted and not limited", Jason Warren told "Today".
