Manchester United ready to move for Tottenham Hotspur ace Toby Alderweireld

Apoel FC's Belgian striker Igor de Camargo attempts a shot as he is marked by Tottenham Hotspur's Belgian defender Toby Alderweireld during the UEFA Champions League football match

But, at the moment, he is not exactly happy with the decision to sit him out of their Champions League clash against reigning Serie A champions Juventus on Tuesday.

Operating with a back three, Chelsea ideally would want five if not six centre-backs in their squad to give them ideal cover across all four fronts and the Blues are in the market for another when the summer transfer window opens.

Alderweireld, 28, is yet to sign fresh terms with Spurs and has 18 months left on his contract with the club now in negotiations with the player.

Although the Portuguese manager bought in Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof, Toby Alderweireld represents a more experienced option. The Argentine still has four years left on his existing deal, but the north Londoners are desperate to ward off interest from the likes of Real Madrid by offering their manager a lucrative new deal.

Marouane Fellaini will be leaving Manchester United this summer after agreeing a move to Besiktas, claims Turkish outlet Foto Mac.

- Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been viewing houses in Los Angeles ahead of his expected transfer to LA Galaxy, according to ESPN FC sources.

The Belgium international's current deal expires in 18 months, although it does include a one-year extension that can be triggered in 2019, but the 28-year-old has delayed putting pen to paper over fresh terms.

The Guardian reports that Chelsea and Man City are both monitoring Alderweireld's situation and would be interested in making a move for the centre-back should he become available.

City are also looking after their future, with The Times reporting that they are close to deals for Philippe Sandler, a 21-year-old defender from PEC Zwolle, and Claudio Gomes, a 17-year-old midfielder who plays for PSG's youth team.
