Lonzo Ball Says NCAA Should Pay Players: 'Everybody's Getting Paid Anyway'

Lonzo Ball

Lonzo Ball has missed 15 games for the Lakers while recovering from a sprained left MCL and in that time L.A. has hit its stride to the tune of an 8-7 record without their rookie point guard, while also shaking up their roster with the Isaiah Thomas trade.

Ball, who has denied accepting bribes from National Basketball Association agents during his one season at UCLA, pushed the agenda for college hoops players to be legally compensated for their contributions to their respective athletic programs and universities.

"I do [think they should be paid]".

"Everybody knows everybody's getting paid", Ball told reporters Friday.

Ball said he didn't accept any money while playing in college. Everybody's getting paid anyway, you might as well just make it legal. "All the money they generate for the programs and stuff, it's kind of an unfair system. That's how I feel".

Ball spoke to the media as he prepares for Friday night's game against the Mavericks, his first action since suffering a knee injury January 13.

Slam Magazine posted a tweet asking which one of these guys was going to have the biggest night on a full Friday night slate of games.

"I've been out for a while", Ball said. Yahoo Sports reported Friday that prominent programs including Duke, Michigan State, Kansas, Kentucky and North Carolina, and many of their players are identified in the ongoing investigation.
