Knicks Superstar Kristaps Porzingis Has Torn ACL

Medical Update on Matthew Dellavedova

New York Knicks All-Star big man Kristaps Porzingis had to be helped off the court on Tuesday night after a brutal injury. Porzingis fell to the floor following a spectacular dunk over Giannis Antetokounmpo at the 8:46 mark of the second quarter.

He previously missed two games due to a left knee issue and two games due to an ankle injury. On the season, Porzingis entered Tuesday night having played 47 games with averages of 22.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game. He was voted to his first-ever All-Star game as a reserve.

The New York Knicks were already in free-fall, but this is just cruel. Often called a unicorn for his unusual combination of skills, Porzingis makes 39.2 percent of his 3-point attempts despite being tied with Boban Marjanovic of the Los Angeles Clippers for the distinction of being the N.B.A.'s tallest active player.

According to Yahoo Sports, Porzingis will schedule season-ending surgery Wednesday. They were up by one point before losing Porzingis in the second.

The Bucks have had their way with New York City's National Basketball Association teams this season.

It's an very bad end to a season of great potential for the Latvian star. The Bucks kicked it up another notch in the third quarter, holding the Knicks to six points in the first six minutes of the half before eventually going up by as much as 21 in the period.

This is some absolutely brutal news for Porzingis and the Knicks.

Anthony and Porzingis became close with Porzingis often praising Anthony for his professionalism and the mentorship he provided to the promising forward.

Of the nine players projected to be better than replacement over the next three years, only one ( Jamal Crawford) matched or beat his projection.
