Cleveland Browns: 7-Round mock if they sign a QB

Iowa cornerback Josh Jackson could be a candidate for the Detroit Lions who have the 20th pick in this year's draft

Perhaps it may be more than just a "thing" and pre-draft hyperbole and speculation during what is called the silly season, but if there is one thing we've all learned about the Browns, is that they like to be different.

With the draft still roughly two and a half months away down in Arlington, Texas, rumors are beginning to fly that the former Sooner gunslinger may actually be in play to be selected number one overall by Cleveland.

By the time the New England Patriots pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the top-rated quarterbacks will likely already be gone. Once one of the most promising teams in the league with burgeoning star Andrew Luck at the helm, injuries not only put the season in doubt but also Luck's career. If all four are considered top 10 overall prospects, then they all might be off the board before the 10th pick even comes around, making it nearly impossible for the Cardinals to land one at No. 15. Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen are not capable of contributing in Gase's offense as rookies. While guys like Baker Mayfield, Josh Rosen, and Josh Allen are all viable candidate, Darnold may have done enough on the field to warrant being the top selection in the draft.

I used Fanspeak's "On the Clock" simulator to put this draft together and it's a lot of fun for those of you who like mock drafts.

After trading Alex Smith to the Redskins, the Chiefs only have Mahomes listed under the quarterbacks section of the roster right now. The experience of playing for Bill Belichick will definitely humble him.

For the Heisman victor to improve his stock, Kiper wrote, he needs to get in front of more scouts for in-person interviews, and doing those interviews at the Senior Bowl helped him out. There are concerns about Rosen's injury history and commitment to football, but for now, we're going to focus exclusively on what transpires on the field.
