Wolverines travel to Breslin to take on conference foes

Jackson scored a team-high 19 points, but No. 4 MSU couldn't overcome MI in front of a sold out crowd at the Breslin Center, 82-72.

"Speaking for our entire team and staff, we love Andrew and will do everything we can to support his family and help him get back to health", Longhorns coach Shaka Smart said.

"This will hurt for a day or two, because this is a big game to me", Izzo said. Michigan State turned the ball over 18 times to Michigan's seven, and the Wolverines had a 26-7 edge in points off turnovers. They forced four turnovers during that span, capped by a Simpson steal and Isaiah Livers dunk. The Spartans have been careless with the ball this season, averaging 13.7 turnovers a game, which is just slightly below the 14.3 takeaways MI gets per game. Junior forward Brianna Fraser scored a team-high 17 points on 5-of-9 shooting and eight rebounds before she fouled out in the fourth quarter, and forward Stephanie Jones had 12 points and nine rebounds.

"Wagner played very well", Michigan State coach Tom Izzo said. "And I think you you play harder than us you're going to win".

John Beilein, meanwhile, can't work up the same emotions for Michigan State.

Turnovers allowed the Wolverines to stick close, as they converted eight early Spartans giveaways into 17 points.

Now another Spartans player has chose to transfer.

No. 7 Duke 87, at Pittsburgh 52: Marvin Bagley III scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and the Blue Devils (14-2, 2-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) had little trouble bouncing back from a loss to North Carolina State.

Wagner was just as affective if not better in the second half.

It appears the Big 10 may not be as top heavy as it once appeared, as No. 4 Michigan State has once again been defeated. MSU, however, ended the half on an 8-2 run to take a 37-34 lead into halftime.

The Spartans took advantage of the size discrepancy in the matchup, and pounded the paint. On Saturday, point guard Cassius Winston had four turnovers and two assists. Winston finished with just two assists while also turning the ball over three times. "They're led by the best point guard in college basketball", Mack said.

One of the biggest stretches in the game came right out of the game in the second half.

On Jan. 13, the No. 4 Michigan State Spartans will take on the unranked Michigan Wolverines in East Lansing, Michigan, and the rivalry is as alive as ever. With the upset, the Spartans joined Ohio State as the second program in the league to beat Maryland since the Terps joined the Big Ten in 2013.

The Scarlet Knights (11-7, 1-4) tied the score on Corey Sanders' floater with 1:21 left in overtime, falling to the floor with a cramp in his left calf.

It's a simple formula, but one Michigan State will need to get figured out quickly. The Wolverines finished 42 percent (24 of 57) from the field and 40 percent (6 of 15) from behind the arc.

Maryland (15-3, 4-1 Big Ten) was disjointed on offense without Watson.
