Trump says 'probably' has a good relationship with North Korea's Kim

North Korea and South Korea held talks on Tuesday after a prolonged period of tension on the Korean peninsula over the North's missile and nuclear programmes.

"I think that Mr Kim Jong Un has obviously won this round".

"I have relationships with people", Trump continued.

"You'll see that a lot with me", he said, referring to his tweets attacking Kim. I'm not saying I have or haven't.

The U.S. has not had formal negotiations with North Korea on its nuclear program since 2012.

Trump's relationship with Kim has been primarily distinguished by escalating barbs and insults.

Trump has said North Korea won't be allowed to develop a nuclear missile capable of striking the US, and has threatened war if economic sanctions and negotiations can't avert Kim's ambitions for such a weapon.

The North Korea monitoring site said on Thursday that throughout December 2017, there were "mining carts and personnel" as well as what appeared to be a "spoil pile" that had been greatly expanded at the test facility's west portal.

Trump has mocked Kim's weight and called him "little rocket man" in a speech to the United Nations General Assembly. Seoul and Washington have also agreed to postpone joint military drills until after the games, which Trump said "sends a good message to North Korea".
