Steelers prep for heavy dose of run game

The Pittsburgh Steelers won 13 games and tied the Patriots for the most in the AFC.

Shazier visited the Steelers' practice facility two days before Christmas and participated in team meetings before the team flew to Houston for a Christmas Day game.

The Pittsburgh Steelers made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game past year, but fell just short of the Super Bowl, as they were beaten by the New England Patriots. After the Titans beat Jacksonville 15-10 in Week 17 to clinch a playoff spot, Tennessee defensive tackle Jurrell Casey went on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville and said, "as long as Bortles is back there, if the ball game is in his hands, he's going to choke."

2 in the National Football League in total defense (286.1 yards per game allowed), No. 2 in scoring defense (16.8 points per game against), No. 2 in takeaways (33) and No. 2 in sacks (55, trailing only the Steelers' 56). "I think that for our players, we do understand that it's different". I'm going to give a slight edge to Thielen over Stefon Diggs, who has a touchdown in three straight games. We didn't necessarily stick to our game plan. He is being counted on to win games for the Jaguars, as the running game (more on this later) has taken a step back.

"We'll see how it goes and how the week progressed".

Yet these yinzers want another piece of that bitter Belichek and Brady pie after the officials robbed us of the No. 1 seed and home field advantage roughly a month ago. When previewing Bills-Jaguars, the thought here was the Jaguars needed to make plays in the passing game, protect the ball and swarm defensively. And just like a year ago, the Steelers have an opportunity to avenge their earlier loss in a postseason rematch. So at the very least, that is why we should all respect Blake Bortles. Jacksonville finished with a 10-6 record, and are coming off a wildcard win over the Buffalo Bills.

You could really say the quarterback is critical in every game, but this game the Steelers will need Ben to play like he has at the second half of the season. It's a little bit faster each game.

The Steelers could (and probably should) run more than 50 percent of the time against a Jaguars defense that Football Outsiders ranked first against the pass but 26th versus the run. The first touchdown was a 2-yarder in the second quarter and the second was a 90-yarder on his 28th and final carry. Jacksonville allows barely more than 14 points per game ( three last week, 16.8 in the regular season). The Jaguars have the defense to stifle Big Ben and the Steelers' offense.

The Steelers can ill-afford giving away 14 points again, especially against this defense. It will be up to Williams and the middle of the Steelers defense to make sure Fournette is less effective in the rematch.

"Just the energy that defense has, we have to be able to match that if we want to win the game", he said. And that includes running back Le'Veon Bell, who will be an unrestricted free agent after playing this season under the franchise tag. The head coach of the Giants for 12 years, before being unceremoniously fired after the 2015 season, is the Jaguars' team president and has been universally praised for his contribution to the new culture in Jacksonville by Marrone and team owner Shad Khan.

Whether they are using Blake Bortles' name as an illustration of poor quarterback play or if they are just flat out denigrating Bortles, NFL players have turned negative comments about the Jaguars quarterback into a theme of sorts in recent weeks.

Leonard Fournette rushed for 181 yards in October.
