Simon Mignolet unhappy at Liverpool and is "considering future"

Simon Mignolet unhappy at Liverpool and is

The oft-maligned Mignolet had managed to hold down a role as Liverpool's primary Premier League custodian over recent years despite no shortage of criticism, but now appears to have lost his place to deputy Loris Karius after being left on the bench for Sunday's (14 January) thrilling 4-3 defeat of Manchester City.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has phased Loris Karius into the side this season, first by picking him as the number one keeper for the Champions League and then by giving him Premier League starts over the Christmas period.

He continued, saying: "After everything that has happened this season, I know where I stand and the situation has become clearer".

"I am fine with our goalkeeper situation".

Mignolet is concerned that a lack of first-team football could affect his World Cup chances, though, and hinted that he could consider leaving the club.

I am not satisfied with that [being dropped] but you have to respect a decision of the trainer.

"I have to stay calm".

"Obviously since I'm in it feels like "wow", if our goalkeeper makes a mistake it is a disaster and if any another goalkeeper makes a mistake he is still a fantastic goalkeeper and we should buy him".

"But I must of course also think of my own future".

That has led to the Times to don its speculation hat and claim that Liverpool will look to bring in I Giallorossi keeper Alisson if Mignolet does leave Anfield, although the 25-year-old won't come cheap. This situation can not last too long, that's clear.

Het Belang van Limburg say there's interest from Napoli in Mignolet, but a transfer would be much likelier in the summer.

Two days back GdS reported that Liverpool and PSG are interested in signing the Roma goalie, who would cost minimum 50 million euros ($61million).

Courtois on the other hand is a regular starter for the Blues and has so far maintained over 10 clean sheets on the current season.
