Shimonek to play in East-West shrine game Saturday

Brett Favre, Willie Roaf and Gary Huff were inducted into the East-West Shrine Game Hall of Fame on Friday.

Flowers (6-0, 210 pounds) completed 57.7 percent of his passes in college for 8,124 yards and 71 passing touchdowns against 23 interceptions. Dunbar, who caught the game-winner, had 52 yards on his three catches.

Memphis' Riley Ferguson split time with him and played much of the middle of the game.

Barrett amassed 12,697 yards and accounted for 147 TDs in four seasons at Ohio State. Shimonek and fellow West signal callers Jeremiah Briscoe (Sam Houston State) and Nick Stevens (Colorado State) will be instructed by quarterbacks coach David Raih, who is now on staff with the Green Bay Packers and was formerly part of Kliff Kingsbury's first staff at Texas Tech in 2013.

South Florida's Quentin Flowers was another dual-threat quarterback expected to showcase his passing skills after excelling in a spread offense at USF.

Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET Saturday and the game will air on the NFL Network.

Preparations for the Shrine Game began this past Monday with the start of team practices, which are heavily attended by personnel from all 32 National Football League teams. Fountain was chosen as the game's most outstanding offensive player.

"I saw the ball behind the line of scrimmage and I didn't hear a whistle so I just ran to the ball and scooped it up and went to the end zone", Jamerson said.
