Scribblenauts Showdown Announced For Release This March

Now, a new game is coming which will pit players creations against each other in a series of minigames, and its called Scribblenauts Showdown.

Inventive emergent puzzle series Scribblenauts is looking quite likely to be heading to be heading to PS4. Scribblenauts Showdown will be released on March 6 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. There it was noted as coming to PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch.

Then there's the staple Sandbox mode, where you can take to the Scribblenauts playground to solve objectives and earn hidden Starites across eight new levels by summoning any object you can imagine. It would be the first time the series has been on a Sony console.

Rather than releasing another puzzle-based affair, this Scribblenauts entry will focus on multiplayer-centric mini games with support for up to four players.

Anyway, Scribblenauts Showdown appears to be a multiplayer spin on the formula, going by the ESRB's description. Mini-games include fishing, racing, and using drones to deliver items. It's rated E for Everyone with Cartoon Violence and Crude Humor. Characters can also eat/bite other characters when prompted by a modifying word/trait.

In Versus mode, two players can go head-to-head in more than 25 mini-games that vary in every session.

Adding to the family fun, players can either choose, or design, their own original Scribblenaut™ to represent them throughout the game, all drawn in the classic Scribblenauts™ art style. The inventive, amusing, and down-right endearing nature of the series deserves a wider audience. It's straying from its single-player puzzle platformer leanings and focusing on the kind of party aspect we see with games like Mario Party or Snipperclips.
