Saints vs. Vikings: Preview, score prediction for Divisional Round

The Philadelphia Eagles are headed to the NFC Championship Game against the victor of the Minnesota Vikings-New Orleans Saints game on Sunday. The Saints led that one wire to wire but their defense was forced to stop a driving Cam Newton at the very end of the game to escape with the victory.

But while the atmosphere at U.S. Bank Stadium will very much work in the Vikings favour, the NFC championship game will be played in Philadelphia on January 21 no matter what team has better balance Sunday in Minneapolis.

"We've been very outspoken, since we found out we're having the Super Bowl here ... we wanted to be the first team to play in our own Super Bowl", said Rudolph. "We're just going to go out there and execute and play the best we can and bring a W back home".

"It's time", said Childress, elected in a landslide a year after leading the Vikings to victory in Super Bowl XLIV.

Minnesota has built an all-world defense, which number one overall, only allowing 275.9 yards per game, but also only 15.8 points per game. "We have the Saints and we can't afford to look past that".

The Vikings haven't dressed three quarterbacks for a game since November 7, 2013, when Leslie Frazier was the coach and Christian Ponder, Matt Cassel and Josh Freeman all were active against Washington. He caught seven passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns in the season-opening win over the Saints. Lattimore finished tied for fifth in the league with five interceptions this season.

But all of those accomplishments didn't mean Peterson was going to remain the ideal running back in a league where being able to do several things well is now a requirement. The Saints used their potent rushing attack featuring Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara during the regular season.

"You'd be a fool to think Drew Brees is flying under the radar", defensive tackle Tom Johnson said.

The Vikings' unlikely starting quarterback is one of the biggest reasons the team is at home in the second round of the playoffs. Stylistically the schemes are diametric opposites and Zimmer's offense is closer to the throwback version reliant on winning at the line of scrimmage and controlling the ball and the clock while playing punishing defense.

"He's working, but he's got a ways to go still", Zimmer said.

The duo of Latavius Murray and Jerick McKinnon might not get you out of your seat with their moves, but they are far more reliable and complete.

They have to face one of the greatest quarterbacks of this generation though in Drew Brees, who picked apart the Carolina Panthers during the NFC Wild Card Game last weekend.
