Calls coming in from OH to the Thumb -area residents asking just what was the boom or blast heard just after 8 p.m.?

After receiving multiple 911 calls, the Ingham County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management told residents not to worry, saying, "It's a natural meteor fireball".

The weather service says by about 9 p.m.it had received dozens of reports. "Most likely it was the boom of the meteor breaking apart", a text alert to residents said, according to WWJ. Members of the Local 4 staff also reported seeing the flash and hearing a noise.

- Officials with the National Weather Service in Detroit say Tuesday night a flash and boom that was seen and heard over Detroit likely came from a meteor.

"So a meteor just flew across MI and I'm not even kidding my whole house shook! Appears to have been a meteor", the tweet said. The are continuing to monitor feeds from astronomical agencies for confirmation Tuesday night.
