Patrick confirms Daytona ride with Premium Motorsports

Danica Patrick will ride in a familiar car in next month's Daytona 500 thanks to her sponsorship and funding announced on Mon. Jan. 22

Danica Patrick will drive in the Daytona 500 for Premium Motorsports, finalizing the first stage in her plan to compete in the "Danica Double" in 2018.

In addition to her NASCAR turn at the Daytona 500, Patrick was the first woman to lead the Indianapolis 500.

Last year, Danica Patrick announced that she'd be retiring from full-time racing at the end of the 2017 season. "I'll be back in GoDaddy green, driving the No. 7 Chevrolet with Tony my ear again", Patrick said in a news release. "Going with the flow is working out beautifully. It all makes my last NASCAR race just that much sweeter".

Patrick announced last November that she was stepping away from racing competition in order to culminate her career in these two high-profile events - races that she has made historically significant contributions.

One part of the Danica-Double has fallen into place.

The sponsorship from GoDaddy gives her additional funds to find seats in both races, and the Indy team still has to be completed.

The team will have engineering support from Richard Childress Racing and ECR motors for the event.

At Daytona, nearly the entire field has the opportunity to be in contention for the victory.

Eury was crew chief for Patrick in the Xfinity Series during her partial schedules in 2010 and 2011 seasons and most of her full season in 2012.

"It wouldn't be just any opportunity that could coax me back to the pit box". "Working with Danica and GoDaddy again at Daytona is going to be fun". However, nothing has been confirmed for her yet as far as teams go for that race.

Although eligible for the preseason Clash at Daytona thanks to her 2013 Daytona 500 pole, Patrick will not compete in that exhibition event scheduled for February 11 after Daytona 500 qualifying.

"I'm in good shape".
