Liverpool-bound Keita hits wonder goal for Leipzig

Guillem Balague delivers latest update on 22-year-old's Liverpool FC transfer

The Reds confirmed previous year that they had successfully agreed a £48m deal to sign Keita on July 1, 2018, but the recent sale of Philippe Coutinho has forced the Reds to attempt to bring the transfer forward.

Keita is also said to favour a sooner than expected move to Anfield, particularly after Leipzig were knocked out of Europe's premier cup competition at the group stage - although he would be cup-tied for the remainder of the competition.

Liverpool reached an agreement with RB Leipzig last summer for the Guinean midfielder to transfer to the English team next summer in exchange for €75 million ($91.5 million).

But after the match, Rangnick insisted Keita has not informed them of a desire to leave.

Keita, though, has been criticised recently for his performances, with the Bild report stating he is now being distanced by his Leipzig team-mates.

But the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona has left a gaping hole in their midfield and they've reportedly been investigating ways to bring Keita over six months early.

Keita was booked in the second half, his fifth yellow card of the season ensuring he'll be suspended for the following game.

According to the, Liverpool are willing to listen to offers around the £30m mark for the striker, who has scored three goals in 14 appearances so far this season.

The club next host Manchester City on Sunday.

However, after Hanover striker Niclas Fullkrug made it 2-1 with a header towards the end of the first half, de Jong brought down midfielder Felix Klaus in the area and the referee pointed to the spot.
