Kristen Wiig to Star in Apple Comedy Series From Reese Witherspoon (Exclusive)

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Apple has acquired a 10-episode comedy series executive produced by and starring SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE alum Krisen Wiig. As a result, it will get to distribute a comedy that will be based off Curtis Sittenfield upcoming short story collection You Think It, I'll Say It. She will exec produce alongside Witherspoon, her Hello Sunshine topper Lauren Neustadter and Wiig. There's also Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston's untitled drama, centering around a cutthroat morning talk show, à la Today or Good Morning America. Sittenfeld is on board as a consulting producer.

This is Wiig's first television series since she left "SNL" in 2012. Her recent movie credits include The Skeleton Twins (2014), Ghostbusters (2016) and Downsizing (2017).

Kristen Wiig will star in a new comedy from Reese Witherspoon's production company.

With so much original content in the works, many are wondering if Apple is about to announce their own streaming platform.

In addition to the three Witherspoon projects, Apple is also prepping a reboot of "Amazing Stories" from executive producer Steven Spielberg, Ron Moore's untitled space race drama, the drama "See" from Steven Knight and Francis Lawrence, and the docuseries "Home" from Matt Tyrnauer and Matthew Weaver.
