Highly regarded prospect Williamson picks Duke

Here's part of ESPN.com scouting report on Williamson: "Williamson plays with more sheer force than we've seen in high school basketball in quite a long time as the southpaw's combination of raw power and explosive athleticism is nearly unprecedented".

Zion Williamson's announcement on Saturday night that he was choosing to commit to Duke came as a surprise to even Coach K.

The 17-year-old senior forward with Spartanburg Day School received offers from numerous top programs including Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, UCLA and North Carolina.

Known largely for his highlight-reel dunks, Williamson has generated a high level of buzz around social media since his ninth-grade season at Spartanburg (S.C.) Day School.

And although Williamson is a top-five talent who should help make Duke a better team in the ACC, he gives them perhaps their best recruiting class of all time. I feel like going to Duke University I can learn a lot from him in my time there.

"I miss it, because I have some good friends down there that I don't get to see as much", Williamson told the Marion Star & Mullins Enterprise in March.

He joins a highly-touted recruiting class for the Blue Devils, which already included the No. 1 recruit, R.J. Barrett, and No. 3 recruit, Cam Reddish.

It's official: Zion Williamson has made his pick to play college ball. The Blue Devils have a potential all-conference player on their hands.

"And like I said, the brotherhood just represents a family, and I'm all about family". This is insane.' I tell [people] my name, and they go, 'Oh my god, it's really you.' That part's fun.

Williamson is the top prospect in the state of SC and the No. 2 overall prospect in the nation. I don't believe you're in Italy right now.
