Everton snaps up Walcott from Arsenal

Theo Walcott of Arsenal arrives at the stadium prior to the Premier League match between AFC Bournemouth and Arsenal at Vitality Stadium

Walcott joined for an undisclosed fee but manager Sam Allardyce's second signing of the January transfer window reportedly cost £20million.

Walcott, who scored 108 goals in 396 appearances for Arsenal, hasn't been a first-choice pick for the past year and made the last of his 47 appearances for England in November 2016.

Yet to appear at a World Cup finals, Walcott will be hoping the switch to Goodison Park can resurrect his hopes of featuring at Russian Federation 2018.

Often criticized for his final ball, Walcott has mainly been used as a right winger by Wenger although the player has stated his desire to feature as a central striker.

Walcott, 28, leaves the Gunners after making just six Premier League appearances for them this season, all as a substitute.

"I'm very ambitious and I've come here because I want the club to push to the next level", he said in a club statement.

It would be very interesting to see how both the player and the crowd reacts were he to score when Everton visit the Emirates in just over two weeks' time.

The Turkish worldwide cost the club £27million and is looking to put an end to Everton's attacking woes. I loved the manager, he was like a father figure to me. "I want to bring that [scoring form] to Everton Football Club".

"The fact there's a new stadium going to be developing in the next few years, it's exciting times for Everton".

"He has done really well for Arsenal for many years". Over the course of this campaign he has struggled for playing time and with this move, will be looking to usher in a new chapter in his career.

After the move was confirmed this evening, Walcott took to Instagram to post an emotional farewell message to Arsenal, showing his gratitude for everything they've done over the past 12 years.

Theo Walcott has revealed that he feels "sad but excited" having chosen to leave Arsenal for Everton.
