Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze On Switch

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Brings the Chill to Nintendo Switch in May

The game features pretty much everything that you'd expect it to feature, being an nearly direct port from the Wii U version, but with one cool addition. However, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze could just be Nintendo's way of filling in the gap between Donkey Kong Country releases, as well as give the Switch another big game for spring.

Hyrule Warriors originally came to Wii U in 2014.

We learned today that Nintendo is going to continue this trend of porting old Wii U games over to the Switch, as it announced two more games today during its Direct Mini broadcast. Later, Nintendo released Hyrule Warriors Legends on 3DS, which featured additional characters from portable characters like Spirit Tracks and A Link Between Worlds.

Set to launch on May 4 exclusively for Nintendo's hybrid console, Tropical Freeze will feature the original game alongside some nifty new content. Funky Kong can double jump, hover, perform infinite rolls and even perform infinite underwater corkscrews.

There's not a ton of detail as of now, but the Switch version will feature co-op via Joy-Cons for the entire adventure and this mode will feature Funky Kong.

Regardless, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a great game, and it should be a strong addition to the Switch's library, especially for those that skipped the Wii U.
