Does pressure from Steelers investors have Mike Tomlin on hot seat?

Todd Haley spent six seasons as the Steelers offensive coordinator

This was a struggle from the start. Tomlin has never had a losing season in 11 years with the Steelers while winning at least 10 games eight times, but that record has not prevented his name from popping up in rumors the last couple years.

The Steelers lost to the Jaguars on Sunday, and while the reasons for that loss are plentiful, two big fourth-down stops by the Jacksonville defense rank high on that list. "Some contracts are up, some contacts aren't", Tomlin said. "I'm for it. That's kind of over my head as to why we don't do it". "You always will have rifts.be it player-to-player or player-to-coach. Now we start all over".

Roethlisberger is unofficially committed to playing a few more years.

Cam Heyward handled wave after wave of questions about the team's numerous defensive lapses. The bad news isn't as important as the good news, but it still merits attention: The Jaguars gave up 42 points and 545 yards to the Steelers. They scored a touchdown as time expired, giving themselves no chance to get the ball back and tie the game. "They played better than us - simple as that". After rookie Leonard Fournette's second TD, the score set up by linebacker Myles Jack's interception of Roethlisberger, Jacksonville was up 14-0 and Pittsburgh's rowdy fans were using their Terrible Towels to muffle their disgust. Later, Roethlisberger threw an incompletion on fourth down when a simple sneak might have moved the chains. To be fair to the rabble-rousers, the Steelers have not been to the Super Bowl since 2010 and have made the Championship Game just once over that run, arguably an underachievement given the talent on the roster.

The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback has been under fire for not running a quarterback sneak on short yardage situations, particularly in the AFC divisional round against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

"We were dialed in", he said.

"I didn't even know he was up to be traded..."

Bell finished with 155 total yards and afterward sidestepped much talk about his contract.

"I wasn't thinking about it", he said.

Roethlisberger, 35, is under contract through the 2019 season, but he has hinted at retirement before. I'm not going to look past one year.

"I think that the important thing is we've got a really good group here -- that includes coaches and players, a special group", Roethlisberger said. "I would love to quarterback sneak". It's tough, it stings. "So I look forward to next year with these guys".
