Children rally for justice for 8 years old girl rape and murder

Shehbaz Sharif addresses investigation authorities requests cooperation from the people of Kasur

A day earlier, the police claimed to have arrested two alleged facilitators of the prime suspect in a raid carried out near Zainab's house in Kasur, but they have so far failed to nab the culprit involved in the felony.

A yet another closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the suspect in the Zainab rape-murder case in Kasur surfaced Friday night, wherein he can be seen doing rounds near the seven-year-old victim's residence.

When the RPO told the court that DNA tests of 800 suspects have been conducted, the bench remarked that the police are pursuing a one-track investigation and must widen the scope of the probe beyond simply using DNA testing to track down the culprits.

"Now the police will launch a search operation and conduct DNA tests of the suspects to catch this beast".

No headway has been made in the case since the girl's body was found, despite the Counter-Terrorism Department, Intelligence Bureau, Special Branch and Punjab Forensic Science Agency being tasked with investigating the case.

The Supreme Court gave a 72-hour deadline to the IG to apprehend the responsible person.

They said they were arrested from a place outside the district where they were hiding.

The chief justice summoned the police officer and others to his chamber for further hearing of the case.

On the occasion, the IGP said that the Zainab murder case has become a "big challenge" for the police and the police must focus on the traditional methods of investigation rather than totally relying on scientific techniques.

Zainab, who was the 12 minor victim of rape and murder in Kasur since 2015, went missing on January 4 while heading towards a relative's home. Her parents had been in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah and she had been living with her maternal aunt. The CJ asked him for her treatment aboard.
