Boat with around 40 children capsizes, massive rescue operation launched

A fishing boat with 40 students on board capsized in the Arabian Sea near Maharashtra's Dahanu on Saturday.

25 students have been rescued while the operationas are still underway.

Coast Guard has diverted ships which were at sea and ships are also sailing from Mumbai.

The students who were in the boat are from KL Ponda high school in Dahanu which is in Maharashtra's Palghar District. Search operations for the remaining are underway. Search and rescue operations have been launched with Navy and Coast Guard teams being sent to the area.

Local authorities are now carrying out search and rescue operations.

The boat was capsized due to overcrowding and the boat tilted on one side while the children were having fun.
