He finished the game with three targets, one catch, and 21 yards.

Church was penalized for a helmet-to-helmet hit, while Gronkowski exited the game to get evaluated for a possible concussion and didn't return. Now, the question for the next two weeks will be whether Gronkowski will be able to play in Super Bowl LII against the Eagles.

The All-Pro stayed on the turf for a few seconds before getting to his feet. No. 2 tight end Dwayne Allen stepped into his role at the end of the second quarter.

The Jaguars led the Patriots 14-10 at halftime.

The immediate aftermath of the hit was frightening, with Gronkowski unable to gain his footing and appearing to be dazed. He was flagged for unnecessary roughness and Gronkowski immediately went to the locker room.

While head injuries are impossible to predict, the Boston Herald's Karen Guregian reported that there's early optimism to Gronkowski's availability for the Super Bowl, which will be played on February 4.

"(Offensive coordinator) Josh (McDaniels) did such a great job of figuring out what we needed to do and how we needed to get it done, and he made it happen", quarterback Tom Brady said of the adjustments post-Gronkowski.

"I just tried to dislodge the ball", Church said. They can either aim high and risk making helmet-to-helmet contact, or they can go low and risk seriously injuring an opponent's legs.

"I guess they thought I went to high", said Church of the hit on Gronkowski. Hopefully, he's OK. It's a tough shot he took.
