Alexis Sanchez to stay at Arsenal, says Pep Guardiola

Alexis Sanchez trains with Arsenal

Arsene Wenger has named Alexis Sanchez in the Arsenal starting line-up for Sunday's clash with West Brom.

Now Sanchez, who has scored eight times this season, has once again been linked with a move to either City or to French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

"When you keep talking to a team about doing the right things, application and "learning your luck", when it doesn't happen it is hard", he told Sky Sports.

If Manchester City decide that Gabriel Jesus's knee ligament injury means that they need a replacement up front, then Sanchez could very well be in his final days as an Arsenal player.

Tagging in Arsenal teammates Mesut Ozil, Shkodran Mustafi, Olivier Giroud, Alex Lacazette, Laurent Koscielny, Hector Bellerin, Nacho Monreal and David Ospina, Egyptian Elneny had a less than subtle dig at Sanchez. We can not say a word against it because they're untouchable.

The Gabon worldwide has endured a turbulent season for the under performing Bundesliga side. Arsenal and Chelsea were tied 0-0 in the Premier League affair Wednesday at Emirates Stadium in London. "There was no handball", Wenger said after setting a Premier League record of 811 games in charge. "We have to live with the decision, to swallow it and go to the next game". What's intentional and what isn't intentional, I don't know. "We are out there and look of course to do some things yes, but we will do, when is very hard to say because it is not only on us".

With a top-four finish imperative this season having missed out last term, it may be that a risk is taken on keeping Sanchez and Ozil to help aid that quest.

"We have a squad that can cope with [injuries]", Wenger said.

"There was a lot of pressure on us and, playing Arsenal, we had to get something today".

Guardiola can at least console himself that his team heads into 2018 with a 14-point lead with 17 games remaining.
