Winter Siege event starts this week in Call of Duty: WWII

In addition to all of this, a new NPC called "Captain Butcher", will appear in the Headquarters.

Call of Duty: WWII is looking to kick off its first community event this week, starting on December 8th.

Running Friday, December 8, 2017, through Tuesday, January 2, 2018, Winter Siege delivers adds free content and acitvities to all players for a limited time. This content includes a winter-themed multiplayer map, the introduction of the Gun Game mode, Winter Siege Supply Drops, and Double XP Playlists during the event. It introduces several snowy map makeovers, free Winter Supply Drops, limited gear and weapons, plus a full schedule of daily and weekly activities.

"The Winter Siege is all about celebrating with the Call of Duty community, " said Sledgehammer's Aaron Halon. This beloved mode makes its Call of Duty: WWII debut during the second week of the event as part of a non-stop schedule of special 2XP playlists, delivering a ideal way for players to take a variety of weapons out for a spin and keep their opponents guessing.

Activision says that all players will have access to the Winter version of the Carentan Map during the event.

Taking command of the quartermaster position in the redecorated headquarters will be Captain Butcher, a grizzled British vet.

Major Howard will offer special variants of each weapon by completing Special Orders that change out each day, and these will be free. The character will give players the opportunity to earn Winter Siege Division Uniforms, Cosmetic Items, and different weapon variants. Players can also earn Winter Siege Supply Drops, which can be earned with zero purchases as well. Players will receive one of these for free each week.
