It's well respected officers like PC Dixon that inspire me to be a Police Officer.

Tributes have been paid in Parliament to a police officer who died in a crash with a vehicle while on duty in Berkshire.

PC Dixon, 39, nicknamed "Dixie", was a popular character on the Sky 1 reality series, which follows road officers at work. "It was a real pleasure to know you and my heart goes out to your family and loved ones".

A POLICE officer and a pensioner have died following a fatal crash. "Thoughts are with your friends and family, the police family has lost one of its best".

And a fourth added: "Such sad news about PC Dixson".

IPCC associate commissioner Guido Liguori said: "We have been notified by Thames Valley Police of a collision on the A4 near Reading, in which, tragically, a 91-year-old woman and a police officer have died".

"In policing we often talk about the strength and importance of the police family and that is never more so as we share in the pain of loss and offer support to one another at this time of need".

"My thoughts and sympathies are with their families and friends and the colleagues of the officer at this very hard time".

A spokesman for Thames Valley police said that an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) into the cause of the crash was underway, but no arrests had been made.

Thames Valley Police said it will release further details when it is possible to do so.
