Steelers star Brown out vs. Texans, Conner done for season

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed Brown will sit out Monday's clash due to a "significant contusion" in his leg.

While Tomlin did not address Brown's status for beyond Week 16, multiple reports have the star wide receiver expected to return for the postseason.

The specific play that miffed Tomlin was a completed pass from Ben Roethlisberger to tight end Jesse James that was initially ruled a touchdown but overturned on replay. "Thanks to everyone who reached out", Brown wrote.

The Steelers (11-3) will visit the Texans (4-10) on Christmas Day before closing the regular season at Heinz Field against the winless Cleveland Browns (0-14).

Conner exited Sunday's game against the Patriots in the fourth quarter with the injury.

Brown should be back in time for the playoffs.

Brown, 29, finishes the regular season with 101 catches for 1,533 yards and nine touchdowns. For the year, the third-round pick had 144 yards and 0 touchdowns on 32 carries.

Conner was a third-round pick in the 2017 National Football League draft, completing an inspiring journey to the National Football League after being diagnosed with lymphoma in 2015. Tomlin said the team will make an addition to the roster as Le'Veon Bell and Fitzgerald Toussaint are the only other backs on the 53-man roster.
