Saif Ali Khan: If Padmavati Releases, We Will Shift Kaalakaandi

The promotional game for Saif Ali Khan's upcoming movie "Kaalakaandi" is getting stronger day by day.

Talking about the same, Nawab of Pataudi was quoted as saying, "I am happy, I am excited for her". I hope we don't have to do that. "It would have been nice to see Kaalakaandi releasing with Padmavati as it shows that we have a film industry, which makes different kinds of movies". It features Saif in the lead role while Akshay Oberoi, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Deepak Dobriyal, Vijay Raaz, Sobhita Dhulipala and Isha Talwar play pivotal parts. "They were all good actors and I think my acting has improved after working with some of these guys", he said. Apart from being rather trippy, the trailer also smells super duper fun, partly because Akshat Verma, who is the screenwriter of the very popular Delhi Belly, writes and directs this too.

But the hype around the movie did not last long due to the delay in its release date. "I liked his (Raja's) attempt, it was a little European in flavour, and the drama could be a bit more, and I think he generally avoids drama". I don't think it was even publicised correct.

The first look of the film was released recently and Saif said he is confident "that she (Sara) will be very good". I didn't see enough buzz around the film. Putting all the rumours to rest that the film will only release on Netflix, the makers have finally announced the release date and it is now coming on January 12, 2018. "But, with films like that, you have got to show the trailer, hoardings, and you have to spend money on the publicity".

At the event, Saif also spoke about the box office numbers and he confessed that he does feel bad and it does bother to him if his films don't do well. He said, "Sometimes, these days, I think people don't want to spend money on marketing".
