Ryan Shazier makes surprise appearance at Patriots vs. Steelers game

Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier was in attendance at Sunday's game against the Patriots just two weeks after he suffered a serious spinal injury in Week 13 against the Bengals. There had initially been concerns about the 25-year-old possibly being unable to walk again given the nature of his injury.

Shazier, sitting in one of Heinz Field's luxury boxes, waved a Terrible Towel to bring the hometown crowd to its feet.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin told CBS Sports that it was Shazier's decision to attend the game, and this is part of his rehabilitation process.

Shazier appeared to be good spirits as he smiled and waved a awful towel.

The Steelers have not elaborated on what exactly Shazier's surgery entailed nor what his prognosis is. This was a really cool moment, and hopefully it's not the last time we see Shazier in Pittsburgh. Coach Mike Tomlin gave him the game ball, and players took him a division champion T-Shirt and hat.

First and foremost, though, let's hope he makes a full recovery before he even tries to get back on a football field.
