Quarterback Johnny Manziel Eligible To Play In CFL Beginning 2018

Thursday marked yet another chapter in what has been a very interesting story surrounding quarterback Johnny Manziel and the potential that he could one day sign a contract with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats or any other CFL team.

"It has included an ongoing assessment by an independent expert on the issue of violence against women, a review by legal counsel, and an in-person interview of Mr. Manziel conducted by the Commissioner".

It was confirmed on Thursday that CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie will give the green light for the free agent quarterback to play in 2018 if a contract can be negotiated with the Tiger-Cats, who hold Manziel's rights.

The CFL announced Thursday it would approve a contract for quarterback Johnny Manziel if one was negotiated with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, who have the former Heisman Trophy victor on their negotiation list. The specifics of those conditions are confidential and will not be disclosed. In January 2016, he had misdemeanour domestic abuse charges (involving his former girlfriend) dismissed, as long as he completed an anger management program, attended a domestic violence impact panel and participated in a substance-abuse program.

Tillman went on to say that he and the Tiger-Cats thought that Manziel was a "guy that's just electric, that could be one of the most exciting players in the Canadian Football League since Doug Flutie. The CFL has extended the stay on the expiry of the 10-day window for Mr. Manziel until November 30, 2017 and therefore Mr. Manziel will remain on Hamilton's negotiation list until that date".

"As everybody knows (in Hawaii), the type of defense we played at Hawaii, (Glanville) turns it up", Jones said.

The Alouettes reportedly had an interest in Manziel earlier this season, and it was Montreal head coach Mike Sherman who convinced Manziel to play at Texas A&M after he'd verbally committed to OR coming out of high school. "We will have no further comment at this time". Manziel would win the Heisman Trophy that year, with a ridiculous scrambling touchdown pass against Alabama becoming Heisman legend.

The Browns drafted Johnny Football in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Hamilton (6-12) finished third in the East Division a year ago and missed the CFL playoffs. "He can throw it and he can run it like nobody ever has been able to do".
