FSU athletic director Stan Wilcox called Taggart on Sunday to, "catch up".

Here's defensive back Brady Breeze, "we kind of had to come together as a team and say hey, we need to focus on this bowl game and not let the coach situation take us down". I was in awe when I had a chance to meet him.

"I apologized (to everyone at Oregon) before I left".

Taggart is known as one of the top recruiters in the country, and he'll have a great opportunity to show his worth over the next two weeks.

"He lied straight to my dads face in my living room Thursday night", OR sophomore linebacker Troy Dye tweeted on Wednesday.

Committed lineman Christopher Randazzo tweeted: "A day before my visit and he still came into my house preaching OR. leaves a bad taste".

That was five days before Taggart agreed to terms to be Florida State's new coach.

Taggart broke down and was emotional while breaking the news of his departure to UO players Tuesday in an in-person meeting in the Hatfield-Dowlin Complex.

Willie Taggart started his Florida State career with the Tomahawk Chop as he arrived to cheerleaders and the Seminoles marching band. Taggart signed a six-year contract worth $30 million to take over for Jimbo Fisher, who left for Texas A&M.

The Ducks went 7-5 in Taggart's lone season in Eugene, an improvement of three wins over their down 2016 campaign.

OR went 7-5 during the regular season, as the Ducks lost starting quarterback Justin Herbert for five games.

The 41-year-old Taggart was formally introduced as the new leader of the Seminoles on Wednesday during a press conference at Doak Campbell Stadium. "The people you met and the relationships you built, it's always tough when you have to end that".

The Bradenton, Fla. native, who grew up a Seminoles fan, vowed to return the program to its high standing.

". I wasn't going to leave it just for anything because it was ideal and my family loved it there and we had everything going the right way".

They aren't for now, but, then again, that could change. Taggart talked extensively about being closer to home, and he mentioned his late father, saying, "I feel like I'm here now because of my dad, he put the word in to the good Lord, please get my son be closer to home and closer to his mom".
