The critically-acclaimed game receives a free update - a new local Versus mode where two players will use their tactical skills to play against each other on the same screen (sharing a pair of Joy-Con™ controllers or using the Nintendo Switch™ Pro Controllers) to fight on unique and evolving battlefields.

Ubisoft has announced that Versus Mode will be arriving for Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle tomorrow, December 8th, as a free update for all owners of the game on Nintendo Switch.

Versus mode, which is limited to two players on the same system, will let players select a team of three heroes and "use every attack and technique available to them to claim victory across small, surprise-filled maps", Ubisoft said on its official blog. Unlike the game other modes, this Versus mode allows you to pick an all-Rabbids team or pick a trio exclusively from the Mushroom Kingdom. Each character comes with its own unique pre-sets, including specific statistics and skills, so you can create your own winning strategy.

In the main campaign for Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, players will form a team of three unique characters, customizing their abilities via each character's dedicated skill tree to form the ideal trio. Teams can get the competitive advantage over their opponents by finding special power-up blocks, which provide bonuses such as extra turns, on each map.

The mode will also feature adjustable options per match including timers, time or even removing all the items as you see fit.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Versus mode will restrict each player to just three actions per turn.
