Manchester United, Pogba: "It's true Real Madrid wanted me..."

Manchester United star admits he thought of moving to Real Madrid last season

Paul Pogba has revealed that he turned down an offer from Real Madrid previous year in order to follow his heart and rejoin Manchester United. I don't know why, I didn't know what was going to happen, but I did it, and I don't regret.

Pogba, 24, came through the youth ranks at United but left for Juventus in 2012 after growing frustrated at a lack of opportunities under Sir Alex Ferguson.

But when it came to making a decision in the summer of 2016, Pogba opted for a move back to the club he walked away from for free four years earlier.

The French star went on to play 51 times for the Old Trafford side last season, and lifted the Community Shield, League Cup and UEFA Europa League trophies.

Real Madrid are considering changing strategy over their next goalkeeper, in a development that could be welcomed at Manchester United but not at Chelsea, as the European champions believe Thibaut Courtois could be much easier to sign than David De Gea.

In the end, my heart pushed me to get back here. "Regrets? No I have no regrets and I am very happy here.". "I never regret my choice". I won't start the game the same way I did the previous year.

Pogba has been touted as a future club captain by some supporters and said: "I would be really pleased to hear that".

"He motivates me. He speaks to me a lot".

"It's always nice to see the younger [players] looking up to me because they come from the academy too. I want to give my best until we arrive where Manchester wants to arrive".
