Head Coach Steve Clifford of the Charlotte Hornets watches play during a game against the Memphis Grizzlies at the FedEx Forum on October 30, 2017 in Memphis, Tennessee. The Hornets defeated the Grizzlies 104-99. Clifford did not coach Monday night's victory over the Orlando Magic, and was not at practice Tuesday.

On Wednesday morning, the Charlotte Hornets announced head coach Steve Clifford will be taking a leave of absence "for the immediate future" in order to address his health.

The Hornets said in a press released there is no timetable for Clifford's return.

The Hornets are now 9-13 this season and are in 11th place in the Eastern Conference.

Silas typically shares the scouting for the other 29 teams around the league with our assistant coaches, something that SB Nation's Paul Flannery witnessed when he spent a day with the assistant coach. "All that other stuff will go out the window when it's time to coach".

The Hornets did not provide any additional details on the situation.

Silas has been a longtime assistant in the National Basketball Association, coaching for the Hornets/New Orleans Pelicans (2000-03), Cleveland Cavaliers (2003-05), Golden State Warriors (2006-10) and the Charlotte Bobcats/Hornets (2010-present).
