Google BLOCKS YouTube Access Inside Amazon Fire TV

Google drops YouTube from Amazon's Fire TV, Echo Show

Google blocked YouTube access via the Echo Show, Amazon's smart speaker with a touchscreen, on Tuesday and will stop supporting YouTube on Amazon's Fire TV set-top box on January 1. They point out that Amazon does not have the Prime Video app for Google Chromecast devices and its website does not sell Google products like the Chromecast and Google Home. It wasn't until relatively recently at WWDC 2017 when Apple and Amazon belatedly said they had reached an agreement to develop a dedicated tvOS app for the Apple TV. "We hope we can reach an agreement to resolve these issues soon". Now Google has been unhappy with Amazon using its YouTube service on its devices and this was the first step to make Amazon agree to its demands. In the past few years, both have introduced multiple new home devices, including speakers and home-security products.

A rare public spat in the technology industry escalated on Tuesday when Google said it would block its video streaming application YouTube from two Amazon.com Inc devices and criticized the online retailer for not selling Google hardware. Offering access to thousands of the latest movies and TV programmes, you can stream content on demand or, find Prime offers to enable you to buy and keep your favourite shows. In September, Google blocked YouTube support for the Echo Show and at the time said Amazon's implementation "violates our terms of service, creating a broken user experience".

Amazon Prime Video on Apple TV app also supports Universal Search.

Amazon Prime Video is part of the Amazon Prime membership, now available for $10.99 or £7.99/month.

Amazon Fire TV is based on the open-source version of the Android platform and does not provide access to the Google store.
