Florentino Perez on Neymar and Kylian Mbappe Rumours

Rumours are growing that Neymar has failed to settle at Parc des Princes since a £198m move

Perez tried to sign Neymar back in 2013 before the Brazilian sealed a move to arch-rivals Barcelona.

Speaking to Marca, Perez said: "Being in Madrid would make it easier to win the Ballon d'Or".

Neymar finished third behind Lionel Messi and victor Cristiano Ronaldo in the Ballon d'Or on Thursday and Perez suggested the only way for the Brazilian to break the duo's stranglehold on the prize - which has extended to a decade - would be to join Real.

Neymar only moved to the Ligue 1 side last summer but has proved to be a huge success with Unai Emery's men, scoring nine goals and contributing six assists in 12 league starts.

Yesterday, Perez made no secret of his undying interest in the 25-year-old Neymar, even at the risk of incurring PSG's wrath.

"We will see. Everyone knew that I wanted to sign him at some point [before he joined Barcelona from Santos]". Recruit Neymar and wait for Mbappé to develop?

Ronaldo won the award for his role in Real's phenomenal 2016/17 season, in which they pipped Barcelona to the La Liga title and became the first European champions to retain their crown in the Champions League era.

Ronaldo will turn 33 in February, and while replacing the Portugal star is an nearly impossible task, Neymar is one of the few players who has the quality to take his place in the Madrid attack.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has added to the mounting transfer speculation surrounding Neymar by insisting the Brazilian would win the Ballon d'Or if he played for them.

"When I finish my career, I will look at the statistics to see if I'm among the best", Ronaldo added.
