Pop star Ed Sheeran has been awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) medal for his services to music and charity. "Yeah, why not", he quipped with a grin.

The 26-year-old "Shape of You" singer was the most-streamed artist on music service Spotify globally in 2017, and his third album "Divide", topped the USA album charts.

"I think talent is like 30 percent of it and persistence, drive and self-belief are the other ones, which I guess are all the same thing", he noted.

Sheeran's "New York concert" tomorrow (Dec. 8) is the Z100 Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden. Even though we think that Sheeran is one talented guy, his persistence is definitely admirable, and does have a lot to do with his eventual success in the music industry, so bravo.

The award winning celebrity, whose latest album Divide spent more than 15 weeks at the top of the charts, received the honour during a Buckingham Palace investiture ceremony.

The 26-year-old accepted an MBE from Prince Charles earlier today and looked very dapper in a blue-fitted suit.

Sheeran said he was thinking of his late grandfather Bill, who passed four years ago today, as he received the award.
